Cascade SIGGRAPH Steering Committee Meeting Summary by Herc Silverstein Comments/Corrections: herc@schrodinger.com Location: Thai Orchid, 2231 W Burnside Time: Weds May 14, 2002 12:30-1:45 Attendees: Mark Noland Herc Silverstein Michael Smith Absent: Connie Winn Adam Lake Andy Larkin Nance Patternoster Agenda - May meeting review - future events - volunteers - June elections - May meeting - Went well - Turn out was around 30 or so people - Thanks to Oregon3D! - Future Events (tentative) - speakers - need to find a way to entice locals to speak. - one idea: give speakers a membership to the local chapter for the year - Jun 3: alias, discreet - Jul 1: no local meeting as the national is in San Diego - Aug 4: Anark Studio (4th Generation Media), Kevin McGill - Sep 2: etheater - discussion about whether to try to do it at the hollywood, use PCC again, Cinema 21, Laurelhurst, etc. - Herc will talk to folks at Laurelhurst - Volunteers - We need to get a volunteer coordinator. Optimally it will be someone other than a board member - Michael will contact a few people for the upcoming event. - Herc will contact the rest. (Later Nance offered to help out and we will be splitting the work: Nance a-k, Herc l-z). - need to enlist volunteers to help grow the membership - June Elections - These are coming fast - Need to get a list of people who will be running for the positions - Need to make a letter to send to everyone, inviting them to participate (Herc) - Miscellaneous - Need to find someone who can be a PR person for universities/academia - NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING Time: TBD Location: TBD Back
