- Surveys

Survey results (2 pages) from OGI/Will Vinton general meeting are at:

http://softwaresmith.biz/siggraph/

Should probably be moved to website and above link pointed to

our local siggraph chapter website

Executive summary of survey showed highest interest areas with

significant responses (15 or greater) are (first one

is highest):

local companies doing graphics 61

digital film 55

3d for web 54

graphical algorithms 53

visualization of data and mapping 53

advanced photoshop effects 45

It would be additionally useful to get background information on

people filling out surveys to better understand their backgrounds:

professional/student, engineer/artist/etc. This will help put

things into context and help us plan.

We should do additionally surveys to get a more rounded view of

what local siggraph events would be most useful/interesting.

- future general meetings

For each meeting the primary person responsible is listed first.

Others who have volunteered are listed after. Of course, others

are welcome to volunteer as well. Please contact one of the board

members to volunteer.

JUNE 4

Hash

Michael to hand-off to Andy

Try to do on-site at Hash.

See if they will offer discounts on sw at presentation

JUL 2

Local company

Nance, Connie

Will investigate. Hopefully something to discuss by next steering meeting.

AUG 6

Mixer.

Andy, Erin, Herc

A local theater

Try to get Hollywood Theater. Get caterer/food. Get siggraph videos,

especially this years e-theater and animation videos to show. Thought

about doing this as a fund-raiser, but feeling was there isn't

enough time. So plan is to charge admission to cover costs of

food + theater rental and do fund-raiser later in year.

This event is likely to be an over-21 event. Have to find out what

the laws/regulations are. If so, we'll have to post this clearly.

Need to figure out availability/costs of theater, food/catering,

videos.

SEP 3

Adobe

Andy, rest of Aii crew

At OGI, needs to be scheduled with them.

Presentation on regular photoshop features and/or advanced features

See if they will offer discounts on sw at presentation

OCT 1

Digital Film

Andy, Connie

location?

Possibilities: Downstream, Apple, Avid

NOV 5

Fundraiser

Michael, Connie

local theater

Try to get Episode II (Jamie to look into this). If not, we'll

have to do something else. Idea would be to get a print and show

it at, say, Hollywood Theater. Make it an event and charge

admission sufficient to make fund-raising effort for local

chapter worthwhile.

DEC 3

Visualization

Michael, Herc

location?

Get 2-4 speakers. 4 may be too many so we may go with smaller number.

Large variety of things that fall into this area (GIS, architecture,

financials, etc). Michael and Herc to search for presenters.

- membership kits

These are needed very soon.

Erin to be lead, Herc to help.

Erin to contact national group and find out:

- can they provide any financial assistance to help get us going

- do they have docs/templates we can use for membership kits

- other

Connie has a list of contacts. Michael says OGI has list of

attendees. Someone needs to make one unified mailing list of these. Who?

Need to contact those missing from meeting and get them to help out

with some of the events+membership kits as well.

- NEXT COMMITTEE MEETING
