Feel free to arrive during this time to network with other computer
graphics professionals and find out more about the Cascade SIGGraph
Chapter.

**7:00 - 8:00 pm HASH INC. PRESENTATION**
James Hash of Hash Inc. will demonstrate the company's software,
Animation Master. The software is quoted as being "the most powerful and
affordable patch-based modeler and character animation program
available." It is specifically designed for classic character animation,
and includes Patch Modeling and Animation, High Quality Rendering, Onion
Skinning, Rotoscoping, Inverse Kinematics with Constraints, and much,
much more. It's cross platform compatibility for Windows 98/ME/NT and
PowerMac makes it an excellent choice for studios with multiple types of
systems.

James Hash has been a demonstrator and trainer with Hash Inc. for the
past four years. Hash, Inc., founded by Martin Hash, has been marketing
software tools for 3D-character animation since early 1987. The company
continues to design and build affordable software tools for artists and
animators for use in independent and commercial production.

Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH event: WILL VINTON STUDIOS

6:30 - 7:00pm Networking & Demo Reels
  Bring your appetite, your business cards, and your demo reels to this
  session of the May Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH event. This is a great chance
  for you to meet others in various computer graphics industries.
  Students are especially encouraged to bring their demo reels and
  portfolios. Food and beverages will be provided, thanks to Intel.
 
7:00 - 8:00 pm WILL VINTON STUDIOS PRESENTATION
  Local animation pioneer Will Vinton and two members of his staff from
  Will Vinton Studios are scheduled to be the guest speakers at the
  event. Their presentation will cover a range of topics including the history
 of Will Vinton Studios, and discussion on what it takes to make short films and
  commercials. They will also show some of their projects during the presentation.
 
8:00 - 9:00 pm Q & A and More Networking
  Attendees will have the chance to ask the speakers questions and to
  chat more with other professionals for the remainder of the event.

BIOS:
 Will Vinton is Chairman and Founder of Will Vinton Studios. His
 impressive list of awards and award nominations includes winning an
 Academy Award for Best Animated Film ("Closed Mondays"), three Academy
 Award nominations ("The Great Cognito," "The Creation," and "Rip Van
 Winkle"), numerous Emmys and Emmy nominations for Outstanding Primetime
 Animated programs (including "The PJ's," "Gary and Mike," and "The
 California Raisin Show"), Clio awards, and international advertising
 awards for directing animated commercials. He coined the term
 Claymation, and today he continues to achieve acclaim by breaking new
 ground in computer character animation, claymation, stopmotion, and cel
 animation. Will is currently in active development on a number of
 projects, including "Rip Razor," a feature film in association with Mel
 Gibson and Icon Productions, and "Nicholas," a four-hour television
 miniseries for ABC. He is also Chairman and Founder of the Portland
 Creative Conference, a high-profile, annual symposium celebrating
 creativity and innovation in the entertainment and advertising business.

 Jeff White is a Lead Artist and Technical Director in the Research and
 Development group at Will Vinton Studios. Before coming to Vinton
 Studios, he graduated from Ithaca College with a degree in Cinema and
 Photography and is currently completing his Masters degree in Computer
 Art from the Savannah College of Art and Design.

 Keridan Elliott is a Lead Artist and Character Setup TD at Will Vinton
 Studios. After running his own 3D studio in Montreal Canada, he worked
 as a digital artist & TD for a game studio in Quebec City before making
 the leap to the US.

Anyone who attends is invited to bring demo reels or portfolios and share them with the group. You are highly encouraged to bring your work! This is also a great time to meet others in the industry, make contacts, and find out what's happening in the graphics world outside of your office cubicle. Food & beverages will be provided.

7:30 - 8:30 Guest Presentation and Q & A
The April SIGGraph meeting will feature a presentation by Dan Harlacher, Digital Imaging Consultant. Dan
will be speaking on the state of modern, digital printing technologies. He will give information and comparisons on numerous printers, including analysis of speed, quality, longevity, and market usage. He
will bring several printers for hands-on demonstration. This meeting is a must for graphic artists!

Dan graduated from OSU in 1998 with a degree in fine art photography. He has worked as a commercial
and institutional photographer, and his work has appeared in numerous publications. He is also the co-founder of ArtLight Studios in Eugene, and an award winning portrait photographer. He currently heads the digital imaging department at Pro Photo Supply, and is a consultant to many Portland area photographers.
