Each Organization
IxDA — The Interaction Design Association, IxDA (www.ixda.org), is
a non-profit professional organization whose focus is promoting both the field
of interaction design and the interests of an international community of
practitioners, managers, educators, and students of interaction design. Our
organization’s goals are to:
·
communicate the unique perspective
that interaction design brings to both industry and the broader design
community
·
promote awareness of the discipline,
craft, and value of interaction design among business leaders, academia,
consumers, and our colleagues
·
advance the discipline of interaction
design by encouraging the adoption of innovative methods
·
encourage and recommend high standards
of practice among interaction design professionals
·
help establish standards for academic
programs in interaction design
·
develop an active, close-knit
community of interaction design professionals worldwide.
CHIFOO — CHIFOO (pronounced
ky - FOO'), the Computer-Human Interaction Forum of Oregon (www.chifoo.org), is the local chapter of ACM SIGCHI,
the ACM's Special Interest Group on Computer-Human Interaction. The ACM
is the Association for Computing Machinery, the national professional society
for computing and information processing.
CHIFOO's purpose is to provide a
mechanism for exchanging ideas, and organizing workshops & similar
educational activities related to computer-human interaction.
ASIFA — The Association International du Film d'Animation, or the International
Animated Film Association (www.asifaseattle.com), is the Pacific Northwest’s foremost organization for the
animation community, with a collective membership of professional animators,
filmmakers, students, teachers and fans as well as affiliated professions such
as voice-over actors, composers, puppeteers, illustrators and cartoonists. The
Northwest has a rich history
of experimental and independent animation, as well as commercial production in
the areas of stop-motion, computer graphics visualization, interactive and
video game animation. The mission is to promote the art of animation and foster
the development of the animation industry in the Pacific Northwest.

ASIFA-NW, and split into Seattle and Portland chapters in 2006. It is one of
nine U.S. chapters of the International Animated Film Association, ASIFA,
which was established in 1960. As of 2005, there were approximately 2000 ASIFA

aspects and applications of modern technology to graphics, enhancing
communication between persons in Oregon and Southwest Washington that have an
