Uncut SIGGRAPH 2005 Electronic Theater

The energy and excitement of the annual SIGGRAPH conference, held in Los Angeles this past summer, will be brought directly to Portland by screening the SIGGRAPH 2005 Electronic Theater. For the first time in Portland, the SIGGRAPH Electronic Theater will be shown in its entirety.

About SIGGRAPH’s Electronic Theater

Each year, the annual SIGGRAPH conference includes one internationally recognized showcase of the best computer graphics achievements from around the world. The Electronic Theater contains a selection of 18 juried works from hundreds of submissions. The pieces were selected based on extremely high standards of creative and technical excellence.

The Electronic Theater is the world's most prestigious film and video extravaganza, showcasing dazzling and innovative imagery in invited and submitted works selected by a distinguished jury of computer graphics experts and specialists. The works selected for this year's Computer Animation Festival take us on a remarkable journey that combines the talent and brilliance of the current and future trends in art and science with the very best imagery depicting comedy, drama, romance, action, adventure, fantasy, science fiction, and science fact.

Always a highlight, the Electronic Theater melds art with the latest trends in hardcore computing. It's the place to spot future trends in films and commercials.

Location and Registration

The Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH December meeting will take place Monday, Dec. 5, 2005 at 6:30 PM at the Hollywood Theater, located at 4122 NE Sandy Blvd, in the Hollywood District, Portland. Networking in the lobby will begin at 6:30 and the Screening will be from 7:00 to 8:40 PM. This and other SIGGRAPH meetings are free to Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH members, with a $5.00 fee at the door for non-members. Annual membership can be purchased at the door for $25.00 ($18.00 for students). Concession food is available for purchase. Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH

The Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter exists to serve the needs of the Oregon and Southwest Washington computer graphics industry and students. Through meetings, workshops, conferences, and other activities, the Cascade ACM SIGGRAPH Chapter works to promote an increased knowledge of and greater interest in the educational, artistic, and scientific aspects and applications of modern technology to graphics. The chapter works to enhance communication between persons in Oregon and Southwest Washington that have an interest in any aspect of computer graphics.
